I would like to thank all of the teams that support MEM, Inc. and also the ESS Board of Directors for reaching out to MEM, Inc. on behalf of their teams asking for the parts support. On Sunday night May 18th, Daryl Ruggles made the tow out to the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for his second CRSA Tour event of the year. The long tow was well worth the trip as he came away with the "A" Main win. Cory Sparks in his family owned machine and Matt Tanner in the Art Kiser owned 29 came home 3rd and 4th respectively for a solid end of a weekend for the MEM / Eagle customers. Jordan Thomas just missed out on a top 10 finishing in 11th.
MEM / Eagle customers keep the pressure on and continue to dominate the win column in the Northeast. Alysha Ruggles of Canandaigua, NY was victorious in the 20 lap 305 RaceSaver Sprint “A” Main on Saturday May 10th. Alysha, along with her Dad Darryl, gave the fans their monies worth as they put on a great show for the top spot. The pair swapped the lead through the middle stages with Alysha hanging on at the end. It was a popular and emotional win to say the least! Many will remember the horrific crash in 2013 that left Alysha with a broken back. Through everything she endured, Alysha would maintain a positive attitude and determined to get back to the track. Darryl wound up with a second place finish with other Eagle customers Dan Kuhn and Nick Cooper finishing 6th & 7th on the night. Heat Winner for the night were Darryl Ruggles and Nick Cooper.
Once again Mother Nature was the big winner in the Northeast as the Patriot Sprint Tour was Rained out still waiting to get the first show of 2014 in the books. ESS was off but the 305 Racesaver Sprints with CRSA were able to get a show in at the new Yates County Speedway in Dundee, NY.
A light field of cars showed on an weather threatening overcast May 2nd evening. Within the field were the MEM / Eagle Teams of Daryl Ruggles and Jordan Thomas. Ruggles started from the 4th position and made a quick move to get into 2nd by lap 3. By lap 8 Ruggles had chased down early race leader Bill Jaycox and made a text book pass on the bottom of turn 2. Ruggles stretched out to a comfortable lead never to look back recording the first "A" Main win for the Yates County Speedway. Young contender, Jordan Thomas started deep in the pack and had to driver past many cars to get him toward the front of the field. With no caution flags the entire 20 lap distance it was tough but he made the best of it with a strong 4th place showing. MEM / Eagles Soar to the Top as Shawn Donath Kicks off the 2014 Season with $2,000 win at Can-Am4/30/2014
The challenges during the race were plentiful as Stewart Friesen, Chuck Hebing and Cory Sparks all in MEM / Eagles took their shots at Donath in the closing stages.
Friesen was forced to drop out with issues under the hood while getting ready to make his bid at the top spot. Next up was Hebing as he pulled to the inside of Donath on one lap then to the outside thenext only to pull to the pits with a brake issue. This left Sparks to take up the challenge who came from the tenth starting spot as well as Steve Poirier finishing with a podium finish coming from 12th. Sparks picked up his heat race and the Dash as Poirier got a heat win as well. Other MEM customers, Etienne Girard, came home 7th with Kevin Ward Jr. in his MEM / GF1 11th while he was still figuring out the new car.
